About Me

An experienced image-maker, I’ve had the privilege of indulging myself in my favourite medium, photography, for the last 25 years; shooting portraits of men, women, children, celebrities and families.

I’ve photographed many interesting and diverse personalities and still treasure the portraits I shot many years ago; the relationships a portrait artist creates in just a few moments are memories that seem to last a lifetime. I’ve worked with Angelina Jolie in the desert of Arizona, Tess Daley on Pall Mall in London, Kelly Brooke in Santorini Greece, the author Martin Amis, Gary Lineker, Janice Dickenson, and Sir George Solti, one of the greatest classical conductors of our time.

I’ve shot for magazines from London to Paris, New York, Milan and Madrid. Titles such as Men’s and Women’s Harper’s Bazaar Italy, Men’s and Women’s Vogue Germany, Amica Italy, L’Officiel Paris, Jour Des France Paris, British Vogue, FHM, Gentleman’s Quarterly, Esquire and Essence.

Fashion clients I’ve worked with include Macy’s New York, Selfridges London, Debenhams London, Burton’s Menswear, Principles, Warehouse, Marks and Spencers, and Bloomingdales New York.

I still believe that contemporary photography demands that we continually work towards finding the pieces that have not yet been found. I try my best to create an immediate sense of comfort between my subject and myself, and use that, and anything I can muster, to bring out bits and pieces of character we may not have yet seen.

Every person I photograph deserves a fresh approach. I use and manipulate light, both from the sun and in the studio, to mould an image into something of beauty. Photography is all about light, and a portrait artist must know how to manage it in order to be at peace with it. I challenge my subjects to help me create the unexpected image. I use every trick in the book. I’ve written the book on posing, quite literally: ‘Photographing Women:1000 Poses’, Published by Thames and Hudson in the UK and by Peachtree in the United States.
